41. 19/XI/24: transcribed job writings
the following are writings contained in the notebook that I first brought to work, the one with a gray cover
I also tried to find the one with the green cover, which I used for this year, but I couldn't, so here go the gray cover writings
by the way these belong to the summer of 2022
YOUTUBE RANT

I genuinely believe that short form video content is bleeding into long form video. I'm talking about how they're edited, essentially.

Today I watched a video on the effects that the decriminalization of drug use in the state of Oregon has had on Portland. First, I bumped into a Short of said video: fast paced, subtitles burnt on-screen, a summary of the actual video, but interesting enough for the to click on the link to watch the full video.

Unfortunately, the long, full video was edited the same way, or maybe even worse. Thinking about it, it reminds me of modern-day Gordon Ramsay. All different scenes were too tight together, with next-to-no pauses in between, or, God forbid, transitions. There are also a few of those dramatic sound effects like the violin... sound, you know which one.

But the subtitles, OH MY GOD the subtitles. They were burnt onto the screen... SOME of the time. Now this might be a "me" problem, but when there are subtitles on screen, I tend to look at and focus on the subtitles, which I think makes sense because then I understand better what's being said. But at least give me a choice! Aside from that, the subtitles were only yellow and white, even when there were more than two people speaking, so I never really knew who said what. So fuck the creator for that.

In long form, you have as much time as you want to make your video smooth and enjoyable. Not every moment has to be packed with action and drama. Give yourself time to prove your point. And don't just cut the videos at the end, have a fade to black or anything at all, jeez.

CRES' LORE

The Crescent Moon that we all know, yet probably don't love, wasn't the first Moon to hold that name. And of course they weren't, there's only so many moon phases. One of the previous Crescent Moon's was a princess of Dreemurr Island during the 19th century. This makes the whole princess AU of Crescent canon, let's gooo!

The Nightmare Pothole, at the middle of the island, had always existed, with multiple royal guards stationed there to prevent the creatures from exiting the pothole. Unfortunately, on one occasion, the situation got exceptionally bad, when one of the nightmares successfully and permanently transported the entire island into an alternate realm. Even so, the island was capable of redeveloping, but never to the same standard as before. Through time, the island continued to be destroyed by the nightmares, leaving no trace of the palace, castle and towns that previously stood there. Present day Crescent was barely able to learn about their royal past thanks to some booked that somehow survived the centuries and that they kept at the highest floor of their library.

Before imprisonment, and probably after but we haven't roleplayed that yet, Crescent still visited the CC Realm to look back and remember all the things that happened there through the years, visiting the meeting hall, the island, the treehouse... They remember those times as the youth that they had always dreamed of living. Their adulthood was also very nice, they never complained about how their life turned out, with a beautiful wife and daughter. Both of whom they lost the same way they lost their mother in their previous life, ran over by a truck.

I have too much free time at this job. There are two rushes, so to speak, where a ton of customers need to be serviced, usually the first and last half-an-hour or hour that we're open. The rest of the time I have next to no customers, which leaves me with a ton of free time, which I should use to do calculus, but instead I spend drawing or talking to myself. But since words fly away into the wind, it's better if I write them down, which is good because I get to share them, but it's bad because it fills up the notebook and I must buy one sooner.

Why do customers come screaming at me when they lose their rubber rings? It's not my fault you're not paying enough attention. Thank God I have tomorrow and the next day off.

I've begun to resign Vanemap... again, but I really think I'm onto something now, especially since I started using the signs straight from the JRR mod, the updated version. Wait, I should try to extract the signs from an older version of the mod. But that would break the sign templates... Nevermind then.

Did you know that our fingers can count beyond ten? In fact, with our hands, not counting feet for rather obvious reasons, we can go a bit beyond one thousand. Try it! Hint, it's the binary system.

MOON FAMILY IDEAS

When the body of a member of the Moon dynasty passes away, their body is left unburied until the moon phase that they are connected to takes place.

That night, the body of the deceased begins to glow and whom the moon is at its highest, it stops glowing because the soul has left the body and is traveling towards the moon.

Until that happens, the body is kept in a room at the highest point in the castle, up a tower of spiraling stairs. If this is not possible, their bedroom is used. The room, if it isn't already, is filled with items that were close to the individual or that remind the rest of the family of them.

The family has a very unrestrictive dress code. The only requirement is that one of the pieces of clothing must have the royal design: light yellow starts over a purple background. The colours are compared with other pieces of fabric to ensure that it is acceptable.

If the current king and queen have multiple children, all of them become kings after the death of their parents. Despite this, only the child or children of the oldest member will inherit the role.

The tower is the only remnant of the ancient castle that stood in its place centuries ago.

It's a good idea for the library to have a window and got natural light. Maybe make it a detached building?
