38. 6/XI/24: the most beautiful dream
I just woke up from the dream with the most beautiful ending that I can remember I've ever had
and you might find it weird at first, but please stick with me
the entire dream felt like it happened inside Half Life 1
the first part had a pretty dark atmosphere, in the dead of night but with a full moon, letting me see well. I was driving rather fast through an US looking countryside, with no headlights on
I started at the top of a hill on a dirt road, there were two barns, one in front of me and another on the intersection ahead
after a couple of intersections, I arrived at an asphalt road. the only thing it had was stop signs at the intersections, no markings
there were also some telephone poles on one of the roads. on one of the intersections I ran over a person driving a wheelchair on accident, and I laughed a lot inside the dream because I really thought this was a videogame
each intersection was lower in elevation than the last, and slowly, after many turns (I don't remember driving straight through a single intersection), the road climbed down and started to parallel a river
this road had a bit more care put into it. less cracks on the asphalt and another telephone pole parallel
then, after a long straight, I arrived at a rusty iron truss bridge that went over the river, the bridge like 100 meters long
I tried to drive through it, but it was very rusty, but in the middle of the bridge it had been torn, some of the truss was collapsed onto the road
I tried to climb around these broken trusses, but eventually, the bridge gave in, and I fell into the river
a voice in the background said "hahah, you really thought you could make it, didn't you?"
the second part of the dream took place inside a bright warehouse, with white wooden walls, grey corrugated metal roof and some truss beams supporting said roof from inside
I woke up on top of a few wooden pallets and had a look around, but a few seconds later I started floating slowly upwards
the warehouse had multiple levels to it, each floor being a bunch of plates of steel loosely put around
there was a large hole on each floor in one end of the warehouse, through which I was floating upwards
each floor at the edges of the hole had some sort of ledge that I knew I could hold onto
and despite my desperate atempts to move my body around in the air, I could never reach any of these ledges, I couldn't save myself
but I had seen something, no, someone, in one of the floors below. they hadn't seen me, but I had seen them
meanwhile in the background, I could hear the same voice as I had heard in the bridge
it was saying roughly the same as before, mocking me for thinking I could make it across that bridge over the river, but also criticizing me for some of my real life actions
then, when I reached the top floor, I stopped floating, and I was dropped onto the metal sheets of said top floor
the voice said "the people here, at floor 17H, will take care of you."
there was some stencil on the side walls, saying that indeed, this was floor 17H. the roof was like four floors further above me
but I remembered the person I saw in the floors below. so I started to drop down through the hole, from floor to floor
the floors were all prime numbers. I had woken up at floor 1. I was now on floor 17H. I had to drop down to floors 13, 11, 7, 5, 3 and lastly 2
only floor 17 had an H in its number. maybe it stands for Heaven? that was the floor where I was supposed to be taken care of, so I really thought I was dead right then
but eventually, I reached floor 2
there was a large pillow fort in this floor with a huge light grey emergency exit sign behind it, and after taking a couple of steps towards it, a young boy lifted his head up from inside the fort
he looked just like me, when I was ten years old, but with a much paler skin and with all white clothes
as I walked up to him, he spoke with a kind voice and a smile on his face
"oh, hey! I'm so glad you were able to find me. yeah, come here! sit down here."
he patted at a pillow on the floor, and I slowly walked closer to him, sitting down on the pillow, at a loss for words
"oh, it's so good to see you... I've grown up so much, haha! but I suppose your time had to come."
"don't worry though, it's not all over yet! there one last thing we can do."
"you can choose a few things. you stay here with me, inside this pillow fort that I made- isn't it so cool?"
I chuckled and nodded, a tear starting to roll down my face. he didn't take any notice of it
"you can also simply touch this large sign behind me, and I will somehow find a way to bring you back to life..."
"or I can do something special. I can give your corpse a sprout. it will grow on your shoulder, it will be embedded to the bone as if it had always been there. and from your body, a great, beautiful garden will grow!"
"so, what do you pick?"
he asked me, a smile still plastered across his face. meanwhile, I couldn't contain my tears
I started to cry loudly. I quickly pulled him into a tight embrace, and I started to cry onto his shoulder
he sighed and, still smiling, laid a hand on my shoulder and started to pat my back with the other
after crying on him for a few minutes, I looked into his eyes and glanced at the exit sign
"heh, I would've picked the same. go on then, what are you waiting for?"
nervously, I reached for the sign, and I laid my palm on it. I felt myself start to wake up once more...
"thank you! it'll be so exciting when you come back, maybe then you'll tell me more stories about what happened with us!"
and then, my eyes opened
and shortly after, I started writing this
